Go long. Then just keep going.
320 kilometres of gravel roads, forests and the endless light of midsummer. Fellscape Ruka’s longest distance takes you deep into the landscapes of Kuusamo. The route is a cross-section of some of the region’s finest scenery and most remote roads, including stretches right along the border zone and a crossing of the Oulanka River.
The sun doesn’t set here.
The ride starts in the evening, so you’ll get to experience the midnight sun all the way through. In the quiet hours of the night, your only company might be a couple of reindeer and the mosquitoes.
Route

The 200-mile route takes you far beyond Ruka, towards some of the most remote gravel roads of the Koillismaa region and the atmosphere of Finland’s eastern borderlands. Along the way, you’ll ride long, fast stretches of gravel, small forest roads and kilometres of roads where you’ll encounter very little traffic — if any at all.
Parts of the route run right alongside the border zone and take you to places you’d rarely have a reason to visit otherwise. Over approximately 320 kilometres, the route gains an estimated 2,000 metres of elevation. The challenge isn’t about massive climbs — it’s about the distance, changing surfaces and a very long day, and night, on the bike.
One of the highlights is the crossing of the Oulanka River, breaking up the endless gravel kilometres in a slightly unusual way before sending you back onto the remote roads beyond.
This isn’t two laps of a familiar route. The 200 miles is one continuous Fellscape adventure, designed to show you a side of Ruka and Kuusamo that the shorter distances simply can’t reach.
The final route, aid station locations and route map will be published later.
Aid stations
The 200-mile route includes four fully stocked aid stations and two lighter drink stations. You can send a personal drop bag to each of them. At the main aid stations, you’ll find the traditional Fellscape spread — probably more than you’d expect in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night.
Limited to 50 riders.
We’re deliberately keeping Fellscape Ruka 200 small. The inaugural 200-mile edition is limited to just 50 riders.
Once the spots are gone, they’re gone. If you want in, don’t wait.
