Supporters and support teams are highly encouraged to come along the route to follow the event. The first spot to be is at the aid station located at Tapionniemi village manor, where both routes will pass around halfway.
Everyone is welcome to Tapionniemi! There will be delicious lunch soup, coffee, and pastries available. Support crews can also walk about 500 meters to the shore of the Kemijoki River to wave goodbye to 100-milers continuing their journey on the sauna raft.
Tapionniemi village manor is located along Highway 5, at Sodankyläntie 2331, Kemijärvi. The distance from Pyhätunturi is some 20 km towards Kemijärvi.
- The leaders of the 100-mile race are expected to arrive at Tapionniemi (at 95 km on the route) around 11 AM.
- The leaders of the 50-mile race are expected to arrive at Tapionniemi (at 47 km on the route) just before 11 AM.
Additionally, the third aid station on the 100-mile route (Andy McCoy) in Pelkosenniemi is a sight in itself. At the aid station near Andy’s statue, coffee will be provided by the Pelkosenniemi municipality for participants, as well as sausages for a fee from the grill.
The statue of Andy McCoy (a famous guitarist of Hanoi Rocks) originating from Pelkosenniemi, is located at the Pelkosenniemi market square.
The leaders of the 100-mile race are expected to arrive at Andy’s statue (at 122 km on the route) around noon.
